Visiting Our Bridal Atelier in Mazgaon, South Mumbai
Bridal
By Farzeen Lala · Published
Some brides like to plan everything over WhatsApp. Others want to sit across the table from the designer, touch the fabrics and see the embroidery up close before they decide. If you are in the second group, this guide explains how to visit the Farzeen Couture atelier in Mazgaon, South Mumbai: where we are, when we are open, how to book your time and what to bring.
Where the Atelier Is
Farzeen Couture is a bespoke couture house in Mazgaon, Mumbai, founded by designer Farzeen Lala in 2009. Our atelier is on the ground floor of Bhumanji Dhunjibhouy Building, 22/B Nawab Tank Bridge Road, next to the Chinese Temple, Mazgaon, Mumbai 400010.
Mazgaon sits in the heart of South Mumbai, within easy reach of Byculla, Colaba, Fort, Tardeo, Malabar Hill and Worli. Dockyard Road station on the Harbour line is the closest suburban railway station, and Byculla on the Central line is also nearby. If you are driving, the atelier is close to the Eastern Freeway. You can open our location on Google Maps for directions.
Opening Hours and Appointments
The atelier is open Monday to Saturday, 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM, and closed on Sunday.
Because every outfit we make is designed for one client, a visit is a design conversation, not a walk around a showroom. Please message us on WhatsApp at +91 90046 49339 before you come, so a designer is free to sit with you. You can also book a couture consultation and choose a morning, afternoon or evening slot. We confirm the date and time with you personally on WhatsApp.
What Happens at Your Consultation
Your first visit is about you, not about rails of outfits. We will ask about your occasion and functions, the colours you love, the way you like to move and the budget you have in mind. Then we start to shape the design together.
We look at your inspiration photos and talk through what you love in each one.
We show you fabrics and finished handwork, such as zardozi, dabka, pearls and crystals, so you can see and feel the work in person.
We discuss the silhouette, neckline, sleeves and level of embroidery.
We explain how the design, sketch, fittings and timeline will work for your date.
Production begins only after you approve the design, and we send you photos while your outfit is being made. You can read more about each stage on our craft page.
What to Bring
Any pictures you love, whether saved from Instagram, Pinterest or a magazine.
A colour you have in mind, even if it is only a feeling.
The date and details of your occasion, and the functions you need outfits for.
The person whose opinion matters most to you.
What We Make in the Atelier
Everything we create is made to order and cut to your own measurements. For brides, that means bridal lehengas, sarees, bridal gowns and hand-embroidered veils. We also make reception and engagement gowns, anarkalis, sharara sets and occasion wear, and for grooms, sherwanis, bandhgalas and Indo-western sets. Custom couture starts from ₹25,000, and bridal pieces are quoted after your consultation.
Not in Mumbai? You Do Not Need to Visit
Many of our clients never come to Mazgaon at all. If you live in another city or outside India, we hold consultations by video call, guide you through your measurements, share the design for your approval and send progress photos before delivering your outfit to your door. Our worldwide orders page explains how it works.
If you are still comparing designers, our guide on how to choose a bridal lehenga atelier in Mumbai lists the questions worth asking at every consultation.
